The Physics of Putting with Precision Fittings

Arrowhead Putters

arrowhead business card

To gain optimal putting performance, we’ve created Adjustable Interactive Angles (AIA), allowing the means to adjust the putters, to the physical angles and techniques of the individual player.  It’s the most simplified way to get fitted for a putter.  Physics determine successful strokes.  Changing The physics is done rather quickly by the player.  Never worry about custom fitting again.  The putter is engineered to be altered in seconds with a common tool, an Allen wrench.   It’s that easy to find optimal performance.

It’s a given that golfers have had to get used to conventional putters.  Major club builders would rather build a new model every year to entice golfers to give it a shot.  Ours differ drastically.  Aside from looks, the mechanical physics are customized by the player.  Most likely no two golfers will play it with the same physics adjustments, yet it will look the same.  If there’s a better way to play, we’ve taken it from the hands of the manufacturer’s set-in-stone particulars, and placed it in the hands of the individual golfer.  Historically golfers have not had these kinds of options, so now’s the time to take the game to new highs — fewer putts per round, that is!

Arrowhead Putters offer instant adjustments in shaft offset, length, and grip offset. Its offerings are new to the industry. Their overall weights exceed industry standards.  A few extra ounces give stability to the stroke. Part of its extra weight is in the grip, making it feel heavy for a short time. The counterbalanced stock brings the balance weight more to the mid point of the length.  We’ve taken the fitting process to a new level of perfection by giving the golfer control over the AIA. Tweak until your game is at its peak!

Not sure about what might work best?    Don’t just play it, Tweak it!

Below is the Almighty Buck.  Notice the unique $$$ face design.  The designs and engineering of putter faces is quite exaggerated in performance gains. In fact, there are no gains, contrary to lots of hype!  It would defy physics for a negative shape, a groove or a milling to influence a positive shape, the ball.  Not to mention the USGA does not allow such to influence the ball, for putters.  The physics of the putter face are the outer surface of the face makes contact with the outer surface of the ball.  Any groove or milling done on the face has no performance gains, but rather sounds and feel at impact.  Instant Forward Roll (IFR) happens because our loft is -2.

The $$$ is for the fun of creative putting.

The Blade

Our blade has our unique tapered cavity putting the mass of weight on the toe and heel giving high MOI.  The face is a reversed milled.  What that means is what is normally the deep cut, ours is on the surface. Very fine and refined lines makes contact with the ball giving it superior soft feel.

The Blade

The reversed milled face is unique to our putter faces.  The fine lines make contact with the golf ball, giving it an exceptionally soft feel.  Bronze is denser than most steels, but rest assured: it comes off the face with precision feel and accuracy.

Left handed please contact us. We do make them for leftys.

It is possible for a right handed putter to be played left handed with a cross over the head shaft angle.  It would bring the putter in closer to the players set up.  Anything is possible with our putter profiles.  One shaft and hosel will fit all heads in moments. We offer the means to have multiple heads with different looks and head weight for different green conditions.

If you wonder if it is USGA compliant, read the rules.  They specifically dictate designs, and angles that are allowed.  Putters don’t have to be submitted like other clubs, so we have not submitted ours.  The rules, however, speak loud and clear.  Ours will comply if the player knows the rules, knows what angles are legal, adjusts accordingly, and makes no adjustments during the course of play.

We take great pride in showing results of impact videos.  Few if any other club manufactures show the results they claim.  On paper they say one thing, while on video you see the opposite.  Video your own swing; that’s what really counts!

Some short videos to show our roll at impact.  We call this Instant Forward Roll (IFR). Others call theirs True Roll or Pure Roll.  It is rather simple physics to get the best possible roll.  It’s not groove technology – it’s loft.  The image below shows what one can expect when the the putter impacts the ball.  The best roll happens when the putter face makes contact just above the center of gravity, the center of the ball.  Its takes negative loft to accomplish  those physics – precisely why ours is -2 loft.  Positive lofted putters have to be forward pressed to get negative loft.  That creates other issues with alignment and face angles, and throws off the shaft angle outside the center of the axis – the golfer!  Every thing rotates around the center. In this case it’s the golfer.  Less is more, when attempting to hit a straight shot.  Outside the axis will promote a pulled putt – the most commonly missed putt.
